How it began...
The Divine Parenting Organization was founded by Susan Le Clair in the fall of 2006.
The concept came to her while working on her own self-mastery as a participant in both the Seminary for Spiritual Peacemaking and the GAIA Sacred Mystery School program. The focus of the latter program was to help effect change within the current infrastructures that are in place and meant to support children -- education, medical, caregiving, protection, etc. During one "automatic writing" session, she came up with the quote:
"When the children's needs are tended to, then the world will change."
She found this realization to be very profound. When she started asking what the needs were, they started coming through one by one. To her amazement, she realized that when each need was looked at from the perspective of meeting that need, the world couldn't help but shift as well.
Exercises were then developed. As she worked on each exercise she was given, she was led on an inner journey of self-discovery -- of her own needs, that may or may not have been met as a child. Each need, she discovered, was global in nature -- all "children" (inner children of adults and actual children) need the same things! There are additional needs in specific areas for specific groups (ie cultural, medical, etc.), but there was a base list of needs identified that affect us all.
This website is to devoted to sharing information about the needs, how to look at them from all angles, and how to start with Divine Parenting ourselves -- as if we are putting the oxygen mask on our faces first, before we place it on our children.
